On April 23, 2026, officers received a report from another officers agency regarding potential child sexual abuse and exploitation in the Lakehead. Further review led to a suspect being identified.
On April 29, 2026, officers searched a home on the northwestern Ontario hub’s south side and seized multiple electronic devices. On June 10, 2026, Scorgie surrendered at the Thunder Bay Police service Service Station on Balmoral Street. The accused faces charges including luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunications (two counts), arrangement to commit a sexual offence against a person under 16 (two counts), arrangement to commit a sexual offence against a person under 18, and multiple charges related to child sexual abuse and exploitation material. The accused was released from custody following their first court appearance with a future court date scheduled..
