📍 Thunder Bay Police Service Inaugural Charity Gala Raises Over $68,000 for Local Charities
The Thunder Bay Police Service announced that its inaugural Charity Gala raised a remarkable $68,502.50 for two local charities — Special Olympics Thunder Bay and the Boys and Girls Club of Thunder Bay. Held on February 28, 2026, more than 270 guests came together for an evening honouring police service members while strengthening community bonds. Thunder Bay Police Chief Darcy Fleury expressed deep gratitude to all sponsors, businesses, and community members who contributed. The evening also featured a significant donation of artwork from the Estate of Norval Morrisseau, which enhanced fundraising efforts. Cody Jansma, President & CEO of Special Olympics Ontario, said the funds are critical to support local athletes in Thunder Bay compete in 19 official sports year-round, with travel costs to competitions rising. Albert Aiello, CEO of Boys and Girls Club BGC Thunder Bay, said the funds directly empower local youth to build confidence, access opportunities, and succeed in the community.
