Thunder Bay, Ontario — Six people are facing charges following an probe by Thunder Bay officers that led to the seizure of about $300,000 in illicit drugs.
Law enforcement noted Program Rave focused on pharmaceutical trafficking in Thunder Bay's north core area. "On July 16, 2026, members of the city Authorities Service Intelligence Unit and Urgent response Task Unit, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Law enforcement Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau [and] Nishnawbe Aski Officers Service, executed five search warrants at locations throughout the Urban centre of Thunder Bay," Thunder Bay law enforcement acting Insp. Shawn Harrison advised at a media conference on Friday.
Harrison indicated the drugs seized include quantities of suspected cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, as well as Percocet tablets. Four of the accused are from the Lakehead region, while the other two are from elsewhere, but are residing in the urban centre, officers noted. All have appeared in court, with two being remanded into custody, and the rest released pending future court appearances. "One of our responsibilities as a service is to explore every resources opportunity there is," deputy officers chief Jeremy Pearson noted. "When we have a focused examination identified, or general financing in terms of some of the provincial grants that are available, and some of the various financial support programs that allow us to expand our intelligence capacity in order to identify projects that we can then undertake." "Both streams are substantial, both generalized resources as well as program specific resources when we've identified a specific avenue of review and associated costs to that."
