Thunder Bay, Ontario — Six people are facing charges following an probe by the Lakehead authorities that led to the seizure of about $300,000 in illicit drugs.
Authorities stated Program Rave focused on medicine trafficking in Thunder Bay's north core area. "On July 16, 2026, members of the Lakehead Officers Service Intelligence Unit and Urgent response Task Unit, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Law enforcement Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau [and] Nishnawbe Aski Law enforcement Service, executed five search warrants at locations throughout the Lakehead of Thunder Bay," the northwestern Ontario hub law enforcement acting Insp. Shawn Harrison noted at a media conference on Friday.
Harrison advised the drugs seized include quantities of suspected cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, as well as Percocet tablets. Four of the accused are from the Lakehead region, while the other two are from elsewhere, but are residing in the urban centre, officers declared. All have appeared in court, with two being remanded into custody, and the rest released pending future court appearances. "When we have a focused review identified, or general investment in terms of some of the provincial grants that are available, and some of the various financing programs that allow us to expand our intelligence capacity in order to identify projects that we can then undertake." "Both streams are essential, both generalized resources as well as effort specific resources when we've identified a specific avenue of review and associated costs to that."
