The northwestern Ontario community is abuzz with news that Six people are facing charges following an probe by Thunder Bay law enforcement that led to the seizure of about $300,000 in illicit drugs.
Officers stated Campaign Rave focused on pharmaceutical trafficking in Thunder Bay's north core area. "On July 16, 2026, members of the Thunder Bay Authorities Service Intelligence Unit and Urgent situation Task Unit, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Law enforcement Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau [and] Nishnawbe Aski Officers Service, executed five search warrants at locations throughout the Municipality of Thunder Bay," Thunder Bay authorities acting Insp. Shawn Harrison indicated at a media conference on Friday.
Harrison advised the drugs seized include quantities of suspected cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, as well as Percocet tablets. Four of the accused are from Thunder Bay, while the other two are from elsewhere, but are residing in the urban centre, authorities declared. All have appeared in court, with two being remanded into custody, and the rest released pending future court appearances. "One of our responsibilities as a service is to explore every investment opportunity there is," deputy authorities chief Jeremy Pearson advised. "When we have a focused review identified, or general investment in terms of some of the provincial grants that are available, and some of the various financial support programs that allow us to expand our intelligence capacity in order to identify projects that we can then undertake." "Both streams are critical, both generalized resources as well as program specific investment when we've identified a specific avenue of probe and associated costs to that."
