THUNDER BAY — Six people are facing charges following an probe by Thunder Bay law enforcement that led to the seizure of about $300,000 in illicit drugs.
Authorities noted Undertaking Rave focused on pharmaceutical trafficking in Thunder Bay's north core area. "On July 16, 2026, members of the Thunder Bay Officers Service Intelligence Unit and Crisis Task Unit, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Law enforcement Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau [and] Nishnawbe Aski Officers Service, executed five search warrants at locations throughout the Urban centre of Thunder Bay," Thunder Bay officers acting Insp. Shawn Harrison indicated at a media conference on Friday.
Harrison stated the drugs seized include quantities of suspected cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, as well as Percocet tablets. Four of the accused are from Thunder Bay, while the other two are from elsewhere, but are residing in the community, law enforcement stated. All have appeared in court, with two being remanded into custody, and the rest released pending future court appearances. "One of our responsibilities as a service is to explore every financial support opportunity there is," deputy law enforcement chief Jeremy Pearson noted. "When we have a focused inquiry identified, or general investment in terms of some of the provincial grants that are available, and some of the various investment programs that allow us to expand our intelligence capacity in order to identify projects that we can then undertake." "Both streams are essential, both generalized investment as well as effort specific resources when we've identified a specific avenue of review and associated costs to that."
