Residents of Thunder Bay are learning that Six people are facing charges following an review by Thunder Bay authorities that led to the seizure of about $300,000 in illicit drugs.

Officers declared Initiative Rave focused on pharmaceutical trafficking in the Lakehead region's north core area. "On July 16, 2026, members of the Thunder Bay Authorities Service Intelligence Unit and Urgent response Task Unit, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Authorities Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau [and] Nishnawbe Aski Authorities Service, executed five search warrants at locations throughout the Urban centre of Thunder Bay," Thunder Bay officers acting Insp. Shawn Harrison remarked at a media conference on Friday.

Harrison indicated the drugs seized include quantities of suspected cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, as well as Percocet tablets. Four of the accused are from Thunder Bay, while the other two are from elsewhere, but are residing in the Lakehead, law enforcement remarked. All have appeared in court, with two being remanded into custody, and the rest released pending future court appearances. "When we have a focused examination identified, or general resources in terms of some of the provincial grants that are available, and some of the various financial support programs that allow us to expand our intelligence capacity in order to identify projects that we can then undertake." "Both streams are substantial, both generalized resources as well as campaign specific financial support when we've identified a specific avenue of probe and associated costs to that."
