THUNDER BAY — A Thunder Bay Police Service drug trafficking investigation has resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs and two firearms following searches of two homes on Finlayson Street.
The operation, carried out by the Emergency Task Unit and Intelligence Unit, uncovered suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, cocaine, and two guns. The total street value of the drugs seized is estimated at approximately $19,755.
As a result of the investigation, 47-year-old David Cake of Thunder Bay is facing multiple charges including possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine and opioid), possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and multiple firearms-related charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless storage.
Two other individuals, 47-year-old Douglas Shafranski of Thunder Bay and 31-year-old Saceriya Mohamed of Toronto, have also been charged with possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000 and drug trafficking-related offences. Cake was remanded into custody following his first court appearance, while Shafranski and Mohamed were released with future court dates.
The investigation led to the seizure of suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, cocaine, and two guns with a combined street value of approximately $19,755.
The Thunder Bay Police Service continues to investigate drug trafficking in the region, working to disrupt the flow of illegal substances and firearms into local neighbourhoods. Community members are encouraged to report suspicious activity to authorities.
