Thunder Bay, ON — The urban centre saidit has received a building permit applicationfor the new Costco retail warehouse and gas bar, which is to be built at Golf Links Road and Central Avenue, adjacent to Innova Business Park.
"Now that a building permit's been applied for, the staff of building services are able to review it for building code compliance," noted Joel DePeuter, the city's director of evolution services. "There could be additional technical information to be exchanged before the building permit is issued." DePeuter indicated, however, the Lakehead has been working with Costco to ensure the company understands the city's permitting requirements. The standard, he advised, is for the Lakehead to review any building permit applications within 15 working days.
"It's a substantial permit," he declared, adding the permit fee is "over $200,000 for a $33 billion construction effort."
