Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard were the difference-makers on Tuesday as the Edmonton Oilers came from behind to defeat the Ottawa Senators 5-4 in overtime. Draisaitl was instrumental with two goals and three assists, while Bouchard buried the game-winning goal in the extra session.
The Oilers found themselves trailing by two goals entering the third period, but a superb final 20 minutes saw them storm back and earn two huge points in the standings. Edmonton has been one of the league’s best third-period teams this season.
“I thought we were the better team for most of the night,” Draisaitl said. “We just didn’t start on time. Once we got our game going, we were hard to stop.”
Bouchard’s overtime winner came on a shot from the point that found its way through traffic. The young defenseman has been a breakout star this season.
The win keeps the Oilers firmly in the mix for home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
