However, it will close again next spring and summer to complete the program, according to endeavor engineer Mike Vogrig.
The center span will be replaced with precast concrete beams, which require extensive procurement time. The alternate route during construction will be via Main Street and Island Drive. Pedestrians will use the underpass near Simpson and Rowand streets with regular security patrols throughout the period. The Pacific Avenue Overpass is one of several significant construction initiatives taking place in the Lakehead this season, including the north core revitalization program on Cumberland Street..
